Ag equipment manufacturing runs on thick material and hard deadlines. Frames, hitches, hoppers, augers, and wear parts are heavy plate and structural tube, and the season doesn't move because your cutting vendor is backed up.
Plasma has been the default for a long time in this market, and it works — but the taper, dross, and heat-affected edge on thick plate mean grinding, and grinding on heavy parts is slow, loud, ergonomically brutal work that nobody wants to hire for.
Then there's service parts. Legacy machines still in the field need components you no longer stock, in ones and twos, right now. Setting up hard tooling for that is a non-starter.
Cut thick, cut clean, cut on demand
Higher-wattage fiber systems process material exceeding 2 inches thick, so heavy plate work that used to go to plasma can come off a laser with a far cleaner edge and much less grinding behind it.
For frames and implement structures, a tube laser handles the copes, holes, and mounting features in one operation — and tab-and-slot fit-up means heavy weldments go together square without a fitter wrestling them into place.
For oversized panels and plate beyond a standard bed, a gantry system gives you the envelope without splitting parts and welding the seam back together.

The grinding labor is the first savings, and on thick plate it's a big one. Second is scrap — clean, dimensionally accurate cuts on expensive heavy stock.
The one that keeps customers loyal is responsiveness. When a dealer calls in-season needing a part, cutting it that day instead of quoting three weeks is the difference between a repeat customer and a lost one.
