The finish is the product
In signage and display work, the cut edge is the visible edge. There's no weldment hiding it and no paint thick enough to cover a bad one. A rough edge, a heat mark, or a rounded inside corner is a rejected sign.
Routing gets you a clean cut but it's slow, it's loud, it eats bits, and inside corners are limited by cutter radius. Waterjet is clean but wet, slow on thin material, and expensive per part. Outsourcing means your lead time belongs to somebody else, right when a client is asking about install day.
And most sign work is one-off. Every job is a new logo, a new letter set, a new panel — so anything that requires tooling or long setup is dead on arrival.
